Ham and Bean Soup

Ingredients

6 cups beef broth1
1 lb. great northern beans
1 large ham bone
½ lb. ham, diced
1 large onion, diced
2-3 bay leaves
3 tbsp. molasses
¼ tsp. cayenne pepper

Directions

Soak beans in water for 8 hours or overnight.

Drain beans. Combine all ingredients in a pot. Bring to a boil and simmer for 1½ to 2 hours.

Notes

  1. You can substitute the 6 cups beef broth for 6 cups water and 3 beef bullion cubes or 6 cups of plain water.
